The Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) reports that crews have been working hard on the I-5 widening project between Kuebler Boulevard and Delaney Road. A couple weeks ago, they shifted northbound I-5 traffic onto the new alignment.
This week, they have shifted southbound traffic so we can remove and replace the I-5 South Commercial Street bridge.
On October 6 the South Commercial Street I-5 on-ramp and I-5 Delaney Road off-ramp, Exit 248, closed at 9:00 p.m. and will reopen in the morning on October 7.
On October 7 Southbound I-5 traffic will shift to the left to use the previous northbound lanes. You can expect a new single-lane connection from South Commercial Street to southbound I-5.
Shifting traffic allows contractors to have a closed work zone, making it safer for drivers and workers. North and southbound traffic will remain shifted for the next couple of years.
All work is weather dependent and subject to change.
