You may have seen crews on site preparing for construction on I-5 between Mission Street at Exit 253 and Kuebler Boulevard at Exit 252.
You’ll see paving activity on southbound I-5 lanes this week. Plan ahead, you can expect:
- Construction noise and delays.
- Speed reduced to 45 m.p.h. in the work zone.
- Single lane closures: Sunday – Friday, 9:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m.
- Double lane closures: Sunday – Friday, 9:00 p.m. – 4:00 a.m.
- On and off-ramp closures, one at a time: Sunday – Friday, 9:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m.
- Detours while we’re working on the on and off-ramps.
As part of the I-5 project, we’ll:
- Remove and install new pavement on:
- Northbound lanes from milepost 253.72 to milepost 251.1.
- Southbound lanes from milepost 253.72 to milepost 250.17.
- Repave the northbound Exit 253 off-ramp and southbound Mission Street on-ramp.
- Install permanent striping and rumble strips.
- Repair the rough road approaching the Turner Road and railroad overpasses on I-5.
- Make some ADA improvements at the northbound I-5 on and off-ramps on Kuebler Boulevard.​
