The California Department of Transportation is advising motorists to expect continued nighttime and daytime roadwork along parts of Interstate 5 from north of Elk Grove to the U.S. Highway 50 interchange and to south of the American River.
For safety to motorists and workers, long-term, around-the-clock closure of the eastbound Pocket Road on-ramp to southbound I-5 is needed. The detour will be to use northbound I-5 to Florin Road and back onto southbound I-5.
Beginning Wednesday, November 20 from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. a contractor will begin pile work expected to last about 30 days. This is the beginning work needed for the structure and soundwall construction.
The work is part of a $370 million project to rehabilitate 67 lane miles of roadway and build 23 miles of carpool lanes, add additional sound walls and improve the existing electrical and drainage elements.
