The Washington State Department of Transportation reports the following I-5 construction activities that will impact traffic in Clark County.
NOTE: Starting at noon, Friday, Dec. 30, no work will be completed over the weekend in observance of the holiday. Work will resume on Tuesday, Jan. 3.
I-5 – I-205 to North Fork Lewis River Bridge – Rehabilitate Pavement
Highway: I-5 – I-205 Region: Southwest County: Clark Location: Mileposts 7.5 to 19.5
Description: WSDOT contractor crews will rehabilitate nearly 10 miles of Interstate 5 between the I-5/I-205 split and the North Fork Lewis River Bridge in Clark County.
Work schedule:
- Tuesday, Jan. 3 to the morning of Friday, Jan. 6: No scheduled traffic impacts.
I-5 – La Center Interchange
Highway: I-5 Region: Southwest County: Clark Location: Mileposts 16.8
Description: The interchange improvement project, part of the Cowlitz project, is a $32 million private investment to overhaul and upgrade the interchange at exit 16 on I-5.

- Tuesday, Jan. 3 to the morning of Saturday, Jan. 7: No scheduled traffic impacts. NOTE: Work is weather dependent.
I-5: Regionwide Safety
Highway: I-5 Region: Southwest County: Clark Location: Mileposts 10.45 – 19.46
Description: This project replaces guardrail along the highway
Work schedule:
- Tuesday, Jan. 3 to the morning of Saturday, Jan. 7: A single-lane on both directions of I-5, between Northeast 179th Street and the North Fork Lewis River Bridge will close nightly, from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. for guardrail replacement work.
