The Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) reports that a project to replace deteriorating bridge decks will close two ramps at I-5 Exit 71 (Sunny Valley) for about one week. The closures will not affect the entire interchange, but detours will cause delays for some travelers.

Beginning Sunday, May 4, the northbound off-ramp and southbound on-ramp at Exit 71 will be closed at all hours for about one week. Travelers should plan to detour and budget extra time for their commutes.

I-5 Detour Details

During the closure, northbound traffic will access Sunny Valley by continuing north to Exit 76 (Wolf Creek), then returning south on I-5 to Exit 71. This is a detour of approximately 10 miles.

Drivers planning to travel south on I-5 from Sunny Valley will detour by traveling north to Exit 76, then taking southbound I-5. This is a detour of approximately 10 miles.

Exit 76 (Wolf Creek) has an over-dimension restriction for vehicles 15 feet or wider.

Travelers are cautioned to avoid using local roads as a detour during the ramp closures. Secondary roads are not suitable for heavy traffic and commercial motor vehicles.

Once the exit ramps have reopened, watch for workers remaining in the area to complete the bridge deck project. Drive with caution and watch your speed in the work zone. We estimate all work will be completed by June 6.
