I-5 Detour for Washington Train Derailment

I-5 Washington Road Closed | I-5 Exit Guide

The Washington State Department of Transportation reports that a train derailment has closed I-5 Southbound at milepost 116.0, near the Burlington Northern RR Trestle.

I-5 southbound will be closed beginning at 7:38 am on December 18, 2017 until further notice. All southbound lanes are blocked. The current detour information is as follows:

  • From I-5 South in Tacoma, drivers can take SR 16 West to SR 3 South towards Shelton to US 101 South towards Olympia to I-5.
  • Another alternate route to use is eastbound SR 512 to southbound SR 7.
