July 4 holiday travelers may experience construction-related delays on several southwest Oregon highways. ODOT will open as many lanes as possible for the holiday weekend, but some lane restrictions will remain in effect.
Drivers should budget extra time or plan to travel outside peak hours on the following highways.
- Interstate 5 between Ashland and the California border remains in a single lane in each direction between MP 6.5 to 9.5 as a contractor finishes necessary road improvements. Drivers should anticipate short delays traveling through the work zone. Drivers will be able to see any delays on Tripcheck using Smart Work Zone technology. Look for the stopwatches that tell of travel delays in the corridor.
- Oregon 140 bridges east of White City: Bridge work will limit the roadway to a single lane of traffic controlled by temporary signals at two locations.
- Watch for congestion this holiday weekend near Reedsport. On U.S. 101, traffic is limited to a single lane at Tahkenitch Creek, 10 miles north of Reedsport.
- On Oregon 38, traffic is also limited to a single lane in Scottsburg due to bridge construction. Watch for congestion and delays at both locations during peak travel times.
