The California Department of Transportation is alerting motorists to be prepared for nighttime construction work as emergency pavement repairs are made for the northbound and southbound directions on Interstate 5 between Elk Grove and South Sacramento.

From south of Cosumnes River Boulevard to Pocket Road Caltrans contractors will begin lane closures on Sunday, February 4 through Thursday, February 8 from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. for the northbound direction and 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. for the southbound direction.

Motorists are advised to prepare for traffic congestion and are encouraged to plan ahead for possible delays. Weather or unexpected events may delay or prolong the work.

The California Department of Transportation encourages motorists to “Be Work Zone Alert”, to “Slow for the Cone Zone” and “Move Over” whenever it is safe to do so when amber or flashing lights indicate the presence of highway workers or emergency personnel on the roadway.
