Last year, the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) initiated the construction of an extensive paving project on I-5, spanning from Halsey to the Linn/Lane county line in Oregon. The northbound section of the highway has been successfully paved and enhanced with the installation of rumble strips, reflective markers, and updated guardrails, alongside the application of new permanent striping.

As part of their ongoing commitment to infrastructure improvement, work is progressing on the section between Exits 216 and 209. ODOT is now poised to commence construction on the southbound lanes starting May 4.

I-5 Traffic Impacts

Motorists should anticipate certain conditions while traveling through the work zone. Primarily, construction will be conducted at night, from Sunday to Thursday, between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m., with occasional daytime operations as necessary. Single lane closures will be in effect between 7:00 p.m. and 5:30 a.m., accompanied by potential noise and delays. The speed limit in the work area will be reduced to 55 mph, with strict adherence to lane discipline where double white lines are marked.

Drivers are urged to exercise caution and vigilance in the work zones, comply with posted signs, and observe the reduced speed limits to ensure both their safety and that of the construction crews. It is imperative to note that fines are doubled in all Oregon work zones, irrespective of the presence of workers or signage.
