The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is scheduling nightly lane closures for the FixSac5 project this weekend on Friday and Saturday lasting into the early morning.
Motorists traveling on I-5 and U.S. Hwy 50 should expect delays and plan for additional travel time. The work will involve the demolition and removal of the original Casilada bike and pedestrian overcrossing or POC.
The existing POC is outdated and must be removed in order to complete construction of the new one. The new POC is expected to be completed by late April. Nearby residents should expect loud construction type noises including, truck back up beeping, heavy ground equipment and jack hammer type noises.
Caltrans suggests using alternate routes. I-5 will be limited to three lanes for both directions on the nights of construction and then reopen the following morning.
I-5 Project Schedule
- Friday, 2/26: SB I-5 to one lane and NB I-5 to 2 lanes from 9:00 p.m. – 8:00 a.m.
- Saturday, 2/27: NB I-5 to one lane and SB I-5 to 2 lanes from 9:00 p.m. – 8:00 a.m.
Locations

The ongoing work is part of a $370 million project to rehabilitate 67-lane miles of roadway, build 23 miles of carpool lanes, add sound walls and improve the existing electrical and drainage systems.
