Overnight Stops - Redding, California | I-5 Exit Guide

The California Department of Transportation reports that traffic on I-5 is one lane each direction throughout the construction zone through the end of June. Speed limits are 55 mph and 50 mph, follow roadway signs accordingly for your safety and the safety of others, including highway workers.

Construction crews will continue working on I-5 and surrounding areas during daylight.

The road underneath the Sims bridge (Sims Road) will be closed on Monday and Tuesday night, from 7:00 P.M. through 5:00 A.M., with traffic flaggers and a pilot car redirecting motorists who need to enter the highway. The full closure is necessary for demolition work, estimated to be done in two nights, depending on weather and other construction conditions.

This demolition work requires cooperation from the traveling public. Expect wait times of one to two hours. Motorists will be able to enter the highway, but it will take time. Emergency vehicles and those in emergency situations due to serious illness and health issues, including but not limited to #COVID19, will be allowed.

Please slow down around construction zones and being mindful of the presence of highway workers and critical construction operations. Fines are doubled during construction zones.

Construction projects are subject to changes without prior notice.
