The northbound span of the Interstate Bridge will close Saturday night July 27 for repairs to drawbridge signal lights, signs, bearings and the bridge deck.
A delay in the arrival of necessary safety equipment caused a one-week postponement of the work, which had originally been scheduled for this Saturday night, July 20.
The closure will begin at 11:00 p.m. Saturday, July 27 with all lanes reopening by 7:00 a.m. Sunday, July 28. The Interstate 5 northbound on-ramp from Hayden Island will also be closed during these hours.
The sidewalk on the northbound span will also close but the sidewalk on the southbound span will remain open.
As a detour, Washington-bound traffic should take Interstate 84 east to Interstate 205 north across the Glenn Jackson Bridge over the Columbia River.
The Interstate Bridge is jointly owned by Oregon and Washington and is operated and maintained by ODOT. The northbound span opened in 1917 and the southbound span in 1958.
